Customize your agents
iKAgent → Customize holds what your coding agents know and can use: skills, MCP servers, rules, hooks and plugins. iKanban gives them to each agent, in that agent’s own format, when a session starts on a laptop runner.
Kinds
| Kind | What it is |
|---|---|
| Skills | Reusable know-how an agent loads when a task needs it. |
| MCPs | Tools and data an agent can reach through MCP: a server URL, or a command. |
| Rules | Always-on instructions for every session. |
| Hooks | Commands that run at set moments: when a session starts or ends, after an edit, before a commit. |
| Plugins | Bundles of skills, MCPs, rules and hooks. |
Add an item from the Catalogue, from a repository, or write it yourself. Pick the agents it is for, then save. Each row has an on/off switch.
Personal or Workspace
| Personal | Workspace | |
|---|---|---|
| Who sees it | only you | every member of the workspace |
| Who adds and changes it | you | workspace owners and admins |
| Can a member turn it off for themselves | — | no; owners and admins decide |
| Which runs get it | your own laptop runner | every member’s laptop runner; hooks, command MCPs and plugins only on runners set to Allow everything |
The built-in iKanban MCP is under Personal. Its switch is your own MCP access, the same switch as in Settings → API Keys.
What each agent gets on your laptop
The runner writes each item into the session’s checkout before the agent starts, and removes it when the run ends.

A plugin is an https Git repository. The runner clones it for the run. Each agent loads it only when the clone has that agent’s plugin manifest.
The session page starts with a note that names what the agent got, and each item it did not get, with the reason.
The rules that decide what reaches an agent
These are deliberate. An item an agent can’t take is never dropped silently: its agent badge is greyed, and the item’s drawer gives the reason.
| Rule | What happens | Where you see it | Change it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laptop runner only | Items reach sessions on your laptop runner only. Runs on GitHub get none: the workflow holds no iKanban key to fetch them, and iKanban never commits them to the repository. | the drawer: Runs on your laptop runner only: GitHub runs have no iKanban key. | run the session on my machine |
| Workspace items: owners and admins only | Members use workspace items but can’t add, change or remove them. | Only workspace owners and admins can change workspace items. | a workspace owner or admin |
| Workspace commands need “Allow everything” | A workspace hook, a workspace MCP that starts a command, and a workspace plugin run commands on every member’s laptop. They reach a member’s runner only when that member set it to Allow everything. Personal items and URL MCPs are not affected. | the session note: Runs a command on your laptop. Workspace commands reach only runners set to ‘Allow everything’ in Agent settings → Runners. (for a plugin: A plugin can run commands on your laptop. …) | Agent settings → Runners, or add the item under Personal |
| Hooks: Claude, Copilot and Gemini | All three agents get hooks on the laptop runner, each in its own format. Hooks never go to GitHub runs. | the session note | — |
| Plugins come from an https Git repository | The plugin’s repository link (or its text) must be one https:// link. Any other link is not delivered. | A plugin needs an https Git repository link: the runner clones only https. | put the https link in the item |
| Plugin clone limits | The runner makes a shallow clone. A clone that takes over 2 minutes, is over 50 MB, or has no plugin manifest for the agent is left out. | the session note: Not delivered: (the clone took over 2 minutes), (it is over 50 MB) or (no … for this agent) | use a smaller repository, or add the manifest |
| Empty item | An item with no text, URL or command is not delivered. | the drawer | fill it in |
| Repository files are never overwritten | If the repository already has a file at the same path, iKanban leaves the repository’s file alone and leaves that item out. | the session note: Not written: the repository already has … | rename the item, or add it to the repository’s own file |
| Personal items stay on their owner’s laptop | A team run that another member’s runner picks up gets that member’s personal items, not yours. | the session note | make it a Workspace item |
| Switched off | An item that is off reaches no session. | the row’s switch | the switch |
| New sessions only | A change reaches the next session that starts, not one already running. | — | start a new session |
| Size limits | Name up to 200 characters, summary 1000, text 64 KB, repository link 500. | the save error | shorten it |
Agent formats and limits from each vendor
| Combination | Why it can’t work today |
|---|---|
| Copilot on GitHub + MCP | Copilot’s cloud agent has no MCP file in the repository. A repository admin pastes the JSON in the repository’s Settings. |
| Copilot on GitHub + personal items | Copilot’s cloud agent has no user home. |
| Gemini CLI on GitHub + plugins | Gemini CLI extensions are user-level only. |
| Gemini (Antigravity) on GitHub | Antigravity has no documented sign-in for CI. It runs on the laptop runner only. |
